Create your own standards

Many of us habitually beat ourselves up for not being up to par, not being successful enough, smart enough, fit enough? It’s like there is a tape playing on repeat and it takes a lot of space in our heads.

We rarely stop to check what enough is. And who ever decided for us what king of measuring stick to use.

So we plug along in life playing a game that’s rigged in a way that we cannot win. We measure ourselves with somebody else’s stick, standards that were handed down to us. Because we don’t fully believe in them, we are not activating our highest powers in order to achieve these standards. We are caught in the middle believing that we should while lacking motivation and inspiration to actually achieve them.

What to do about this?

Let’s stop for a second and tell the truth here, if only to yourself. Are you comparing yourself to a standard that you don’t believe in?

What are some standards that you DO believe in. What is it that lights you up, inspires you, turns on your motivation?

Make that YOUR OWN NEW standard where you can be happy with where you are, who you are. NOW.

Revolutionize your standards to fit your current values.

Measure yourself by how much fun you had, how many cartwheels you did, how kind you were to cranky clerks. Make it yours. Because your standards and your happiness is only your business. Nobody else’s.
