How to get the most out of any group coaching program

Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your Mental Fitness program or any group coaching program you might participate in. 

The benefits of being part of a group are massive, but only if we actually take advantage of them. It is entirely on you how much benefit you will gain, and it’s dependent on how you show up to the group. 

Here are some ways to show up powerfully. 

1. Be vulnerable.

Talk about your struggles, experiences, mention your feelings. It feels uncomfortable and not natural. This is the point. The group is your opportunity to do this safely so that you can take it beyond the group into the real world. There will be a moment when you will feel like there is no way you could share any more. Push yourself passed that point, if only 10% more. 

2. Listen carefully without judgement.

When you feel judgment for others, see how it can apply to you. This is an opportunity for you to see where and how you unconsciously scrutinize yourself. 

3. Give people feedback on how what they shared impacted you.

When you acknowledge others wins and struggles, it makes them feel seen and wanting to be more generous with sharing themselves. 

4. Refrain from giving advice.

The more burning the desire to give advice, the less helpful it is. Instead share how you dealt with something similar in your life and what worked for you. 

5. Participate daily.

Take a few minutes every day to reflect, read and respond to other’s comments and posts. It helps them feel not alone with their struggles. 

6. When you find yourself thinking skeptical thoughts, examine them.

Is it because you are trying to get out of doing the work? Gently add more enthusiastic thoughts to the mix and see what changes. 

7. When conflict or misunderstanding happens with anyone in the group, Great!

It is an opportunity to see how you respond to conflict and how you can develop coping strategies that serve you better. 

Group work gives us a huge opportunity to transform relationship patterns in our lives. My group programs have strict policies that help participants feel safe, we have agreements and code of conduct. Good luck showing up powerfully and vulnerably in your group. I will see you inside.
